How to Avoid Damaging Your Metal Detector
Although the user manual is comprehensive, it doesn’t cover every potential situation. These tips will help to improve metal detector use, schedule preventive maintenance, and have lots of fun hunting for treasure!
1. Adjust Your Sensitivity Settings
Metal detectors have sensitivity settings that control the depth at which they can detect metals. Set the equipment to an appropriate level based on the ground conditions and the target size for which you are searching.Setting the sensitivity too high can cause false signals or overload the detector, potentially leading to damage.
If you’re unsure of how to change the settings, please read the user manual thoroughly to review the different features your metal detector offers.
2. Handle Your Equipment with Care
Handle the metal detector with care. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to rough impacts, as this can damage its internal components or cause misalignment. If your metal detector comes with a protective case or bag, use it to provide additional protection during transport and storage.
3. Avoid Obstacles While Searching
Pay attention to your surroundings while using the metal detector. Avoid swinging the detector into obstacles like trees, rocks, or metal structures, as this can cause damage to the coil or other parts. It helps to maintain a safe distance from potential hazards.4. Stay Away from the Water
Unless your metal detector is specifically designed for underwater use, please keep it away from water sources such as lakes, rivers, or the ocean.
(Note: The search coil of PANCKY PK0075 metal detector is waterproof, but the control box is not.)
Water can damage the electronic components and compromise the functionality of the detector. Be cautious even in damp conditions, and avoid exposing the sensor to rain or excessive moisture.
High humidity levels already trigger false positives for some metal detectors. Water damage can cause this issue to happen more frequently.
5. Clean After Use
The best preventive maintenance step with a new metal detector is cleaning it after each session. Always follow the PANCKY metal detector manual guidelines if you’ve purchased the PK0075.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a soft-bristled brush to remove dirt, debris, or moisture that may have accumulated on the detector. Don’t apply harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage the detector's surfaces or electronics.
6. Store the Equipment Correctly
Stow your metal detector in a dry and secure place when you’re not using it. Avoid areas where extreme conditions exist, such as being in direct sunlight or being exposed to sub-freezing temperatures. If you have a cover or bag to shield the equipment from moisture, dust, or accidental damage, store it there for the best results.
When you take care of your PANCKY PK0075 metal detector or your preferred model, it will do a better job for you on each treasure hunt. If you’re ever unsure what to do with your equipment, please refer to your user manual.
